Set up entities

Set up entities

This article explains how to set up agent entities. Entities separate the parties involved in commission calculations.

Types of entities

Company

This default entity represents you as the company. It is a superior entity that can have child entities like agent and appointment setter.

Agent

It organizes and groups agents. By default, one entity of this kind is set up for you. Any agent not assigned to a specific agent entity belongs to the default one.
Create as many as needed. We recommend creating one for each commission percentage you manage among your agents. For example, if you have commissions of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, use the default for 5% and create three new entities for the other tiers.

Appointment setter
It organizes appointment setters. Like agents, you get one by default but can create more depending on the commission tiers you manage.

External
This entity represents an external party involved in commission calculations. It can have child entities like the company.

Let's review some scenarios to illustrate how many entities you need.
Scenario 1: You have an internal sales team with two commission tiers: 10% and 20%. You need the following entities:

  • Company

  • Agent (10%): Child of the Company entity

  • Agent (20%): Child of the Company entity

Scenario 2: You hired an external company making sales on your behalf. This external party has three commission tiers: 5%, 10%, and 20%. You need the following entities:

  • Company

  • External (hired company)

  • Agent (5%): Child of the External entity

  • Agent (10%): Child of the External entity

  • Agent (20%): Child of the External entity

Scenario 3: You hired an external company making sales on your behalf with three commission tiers: 5%, 10%, and 20%. Additionally, you have a special contract with another external company that receives 1% of any sale. You need the following entities:

  • Company

  • External 1 (hired company)

  • Agent (5%): Child of External 1 entity

  • Agent (10%): Child of External 1 entity

  • Agent (20%): Child of External 1 entity

  • External 2 (external party with 1% commission). This external entity has no children.

These scenarios illustrate how many entities you need and which ones have child entities.
